We at BOA have made the decision to postpone Berlin Opera Academy 2020 following the government's health recommendations and the pandemic’s effects on BOA’s international community. We look forward to welcoming the fantastic musicians, faculty and staff to BOA in 2021. All current applications will be considered for our 2021 season.

2) Submit the application fee with the PayPal button above; you will be redirected to Part 2 of the Application Form.
3) Fill out part 2 of the application. If you have misplaced the link or wish to preview Part 2, click here. To bypass our automated filters, please only submit Part 2 after you have have submitted your application fee.


Applicants may audition live, via skype, or by recording. All methods are equally valued for casting.

Required Repertoire: Please prepare 2-3 arias in varying style and language, demonstrating the range of your desired roles.

Live Audition: Audition dates and locations for 2021 will be announced in the coming months.

Accompanist will be provided, though applicants are welcome to bring their own.

Recorded Audition: Please submit recordings of 2 arias via link (YouTube, Soundcloud, Vimeo, etc.). Video is preferred but audio is accepted. Submissions do not need to be of professional recording quality.

Successful candidates of live and recorded auditions will participate in an online video interview. Invitations will be sent by email.



Acceptance to BOA is sent out on a rolling basis. The time frame in which you can expect a result will vary; castings occur typically from February to April. BOA appreciates your patience and requests that you please notify administration should any pressing personal deadlines arise.

Thanks to our donors, we are able to offer over € 150,000 in scholarships to successful applicants which goes towards tuition and accommodation. See below for scholarship application information.

€ 1950: Studio Program Tuition (not including Accommodation)

€ 4950: Festival Singer Tuition

€ 5550: Festival Singer Tuition incl. monthly transit card, SIM card & airport transfer to and from accommodation

Festival singers are those who have been cast in a BOA OpernFest production. Studio singers are those who have been offered a place in the BOA Professional Development Studio Program


To apply for financial support, please include a brief letter of request at the time of your application. Financial assistance is available in sums ranging from 500-3000 € and BOA offers a limited number of full-tuition fellowships. Please specify exactly the amounts of scholarship for which you are applying.

Please include other sources of financial support, such as crowd-funding, fundraising concerts, fundraising dinners, completed applications for local scholarships, and other means of support. Candidates displaying particular need and demonstrating merit and ability will be considered by the scholarship committee. We have scholarships available for all genders, ages and roles and particularly encourage male singers of merit to apply.
